The Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted the round 11 of the Top Class and saw the Repsol Honda fellows getting to the track on board their Honda RC212V machineries with the best set up to face the 28 laps on the demanding track, which puts riders to hard test with its surface changes.
Dani Pedrosa expertly piloted his bike and led it through the victory with self-confidence. Repsol Honda Spaniard did clever overtaking maneuvers to recover, after starting from the fifth spot of the grid he overcame Nicky Hayden at first, Andrea Dovizioso and finally home hero Ben Spies till opening a 3.5s gap. Courtesy of the third victory of the season, Pedrosa strengthened his second position in the point standings with nine points only from leader Jorge Lorenzo.
“I’m so happy with this victory especially considering Indianapolis conditions” said Dani “I didn’t do a perfect start but then the race pace was good. It was hard staying focused whilst I was at the front but I made it and I’m satisfied because last year I crashed when I could have done a good job, so today I definitely recovered”.
Andrea Dovizioso started the Indianapolis GP in a great way, moving to the second position and keeping it for the first three laps before slipping behind team mate. After resisting the pressure from Lorenzo for eight laps, Dovi gave up and dropped to the fifth position after being overcome by the Fiat Yamaha duo. Despite the Repsol Honda Italian was seeking the podium, the fifth place is a great result all the same as it allowed him to get back the third spot in the Championship and leave behind Casey Stoner, who left the stage at Indy because of a crash.
“I’m disappointed with today’s result even if conditions were very critical due to the high temperatures” stated Dovi “for a while I was sure I could have battled it out for the podium but I didn’t have the pace I was needing. Now I’ve to study how to improve my riding style and I’ll get ready for Misano, my home GP”.
Many riders were victims of the treacherous Indianapolis track, among them there were Marco Melandri, Casey Stoner and Colin Edwards. At the end of the tough 28 laps only Ben Spies, who ended the race in the top three for the first time since when he has been challenging in the MotoGP, and Jorge Lorenzo made it to mount on the American podium after following impeccable Pedrosa. Now the MotoGP challengers will get ready to go back to Europe for the San Marino Grand Prix, which will take place next Sunday at the Misano Adriatico circuit.

Toni Elias was the protagonist of the American race and ended it in the best way conquering his third consecutive win. Through this success he consolidated the Championship leadership with a 67-point advantage. The Moto2 challenge was featured by two tough crashes which brought out the red flag and the race was shortened to 17 laps; at the end of it Julian Simon, after a battle with Elias, and Scott Redding reached the second and third podium positions.
125cc
The Indianapolis circuit brought luck to the Bancaja Aspar Nicolas Terol, who won the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix after pulling away from the second position of the grid. Spaniard, who won his first World Championship race in 2008 at Indy, thwarted Championship leader and pole man Marc Marquez, who ended the challenge in tenth due to a crash and a penalization. The eventful 125cc challenge saw Sandro Cortese and Pol Espargaro mounting on the podium too, and the American GP also determined the clear cut of Marc Marquez advantage in the point standings. 29th August 2010
