The Repsol Honda Team brilliantly disputed the 12th appointment of the MotoGP season, which took place today at the Misano Adriatico circuit. Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso honored the name of the Team they represent by grasping respectively a well deserved first position and a solid fourth place.
Courtesy of one of his demon starts and furthered by the pole position, Daniel Pedrosa was the protagonist of the San Marino GP and the author of a perfect performance. Pedrosa lead the race during all the 26 laps, pulling away from Lorenzo at the third lap and opening a clear 1.5s gap over the rival. The fourth victory of the year was useful to Dani to strengthen his second position in the Championship, as he is keeping it thanks to the 208 points.
“No words can describe this victory” stated Dani “I was happy I won but as I heard about Shoya it felt like nothing to me. Things like that are terrible and should never happen. I still can’t believe it. Anyway, my weekend was good and today we conquered the victory. Now I want to keep my feet on the ground and think about next challenge”.
Andrea Dovizioso did his best to recover after starting from the eight position of the grid. The Italian had no doubt about the fact he wanted to finish his home GP with a good placement and he made it. As the red lights blinked off, Dovi immediately moved to the fifth position, he attacked Casey Stoner at the 12th lap and prevailed on him conquering the fourth spot. Thanks to the solid position, Dovizioso is still in third in the point standings.
“My thoughts are with Shoya, I’m so sorry for his family” said Andrea “two bad accidents in two races are terrible and they make us remember how dangerous our job is. Concerning to the race we did the maximum. Today the pace was better than yesterday’s one and I was able to improve a lot till finishing in fourth. We’ll start from here for next race ”.
Whilst the first and the second podium spots went to two Spaniards, Pedrosa and Lorenzo, after they both rode a solitary race; the third spot was contended between Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner, but at the end it went to the Italian home rider.
Unfortunately the Gran Premio Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini was featured by a lot of astonishment and a lot of sadness due to the unexpected loss of the Moto2 rider Shoya Tomizawa, victim of a bad accident. All the MotoGP riders and workers will not forget the young rider.
The Top Class will be back on track on September 19th for the A-Style Grand Prix of Aragon.
